(For Children Attending Kindergarten in the Following Year)
A child’s early years are critical for his or her development. The Learning Tree Preschool has an enhanced program that is designed to give children attending Kindergarten the following year an advantage by preparing them for the transition. We encourage children to take an active role in their learning. Our B.Ed. Educators provide children with the tools and resources to enable them to effectively implement the curriculum. You can trust that your child’s learning will be age-appropriate, fun, safe and conducted with their optimal growth in mind.
Our team is made of individuals who've had years of experience in teaching and child care. Their years of experience allow them to craft a personalized approach for your child and instill a love of learning in them.
Leslie MacDonald is proud to be the educator at The Learning Tree Preschool – Sherwood Park. She has always been an Alberta girl, earning her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Alberta. After graduating, she taught the primary grades in Edmonton.
After 12 years of teaching (during which she got married), Leslie was eager to take on a new and equally challenging job: full-time mom to her first child, Liam. Five years later, her family grew by 2 with the birth of twin boys, Rhys and Sean. It was during her first son’s participation in various preschool programs that her desire to become a preschool educator was born.
Leslie saw first-hand how stimulating environments, caring educators, and engaging activities sparked curiosity and learning in her young boys. Plus, they always seemed to be having so much fun! Once her own boys were well-settled into their school programs, Leslie decided to follow a new path of teaching preschool. She loves that every class is a new and exciting learning opportunity and that the children ALWAYS make her laugh! When she’s not planning for preschool, Leslie loves to garden, cook, read, travel and scour thrift shops for bargains.
Lisa Phillips has enjoyed a twenty-year career working with children. She has worked in the school system for 15 years, assisting with various grades in the classroom. Lisa graduated with distinction from MacEwan University. She has an Arts and Science and Educational Assistant Diploma.
She has lived in Alberta all her life, been married for 29+ years and has two teenage boys that keep her busy.
Lisa loves working with Mrs. MacDonald! They both have a real love of books and often are found at the Strathcona Library together! Lisa also loves singing, dancing and learning with her Preschool friends at The Learning Tree Preschool.
